Arc Structure

This file records what each arc does to the story. 1 The Spine.md owns scene order and causal detail; Choice Points.md owns pitfall behavior.

Arc Function

| 1 · Fugitive | Can you take one irreversible step before feeling ready? | Action produces consequence. Rain acts and his life becomes worse; risk is not automatic reward. | The apparent refuge is pleasant and open-doored. |

| 2 · Mirror | Can you keep wanting when wanting hurts? | Relief can genuinely help, but successful intervention can begin replacing participation. The danger is not treatment or repetition by itself; it is the expanding authority to determine what the person may become next. | Rain and Roxana are referred to the state. |

| 3 · Prisoner | Can you end every life you could have lived, even the one where you were happy? | Possibility itself has value. Rain leaves the beloved life because preserved possibility cannot acquire consequences beyond itself, not because it was false. | Rain carries Roxana toward the Circuit Line. |

| 4 · Witness | Can you choose when nothing is chasing you? | Choice does not validate itself. Rain refuses a defensible amnesty and still loses his home. | The Perfect Clone carries the group toward the caldera under false progress. |

| 5 · Proof | Can you choose without knowing who that choice proves you are? | Evidence reaches its limit. Vesper owns the complete past record and still cannot determine the next response. | Rain remains a fugitive and boards the outbound train by choice. |

Arc 5 Convergence

Arc 5 is one convergence, not an ensemble climax followed by a second ending. Roxana, Claire, and Shiori are tested while clearing and maintaining the path toward Vesper; their actions make Rain's extraction possible rather than preventing it.

Extraction is the hinge. It is followed, in order, by the void, Rain's return, his refusal to remove the Split, the apparatus breaking, and brief clean-rain actions for the ensemble. The outbound train remains the final scene; nothing follows it.
