Memory Exception
Rule: No ability causes permanent physical change to the world. Memory and identity are the exception. Vesper's advanced active (Melting a shard) permanently erases a memory from the original owner. This is the only form of permanent, irreversible alteration in the magic system. It is thematically central: memory is the record of the self. To destroy it is to destroy evidence of commitment. This exception is what makes Vesper's power uniquely transgressive.
