Pre-Flare: Ordinary world.
The Flare: A global event. Unseen energy swept the world, clinging to instances of irreversible change. It resonated with those actively in motion—internally transforming, crossing a point of no return. Objects near those actively making irreversible change were imbued with a resonant energy. The energy also infused the water within a dormant volcano.
Post-Flare: City built around the Sacred Water loop. Society becomes stagnant as the loop fades.
Recent years: Vesper's movement grows; he extracts memories in the asylum. The water decline accelerates.
